Trump Gets ANOTHER American Released from Foreign Bondage that Obama Couldn’t!

By Baron Von Kowenhoven on April 22, 2017 Politics

An Egyptian American charity worker who was imprisoned in Egypt for the last three years has been released by way of President Trump!

President Trump and his aides worked for several weeks with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sissi to secure the freedom of Aya Hijazi, 30, a U.S. citizen. Also released was her husband, Mohamed Hassanein, who is Egyptian, and four other humanitarian workers.

They were accused of child abuse and human trafficking. All have been found not guilty. They had been working for a foundation dedicated to aiding Cairo’s street children. The offices were raided in 2014.

Despite flimsy evidence, the group was eventually charged on seven counts, including operating an unlicensed organization, inciting street children to join pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests and sexually assaulting minors. The group denied all the charges, and human rights lawyers said the evidence against them was fabricated.

Aya Hijazi became the global face of Egypt’s brutal crackdown on civil society. She returned home to the United States late Thursday after the Trump administration quietly negotiated her release.

President Donald Trump hailed the return of Aya Hijazi, an Egyptian-American aid worker, in the Oval Office on Friday, telling the American charity worker she showed “great strength” in her ordeal.

“We are very happy to have Aya back home,” Trump said, seated alongside Hijazi, who returned from Egypt late Thursday. “It’s a great honor to have her in the Oval Office with her brother.”

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Friday that Trump “directly engaged behind the scenes” to secure Hijazi’s release and raised the issue with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Spicer said Trump “made clear how important it was to him” that Hijazi be released and returned to the United States.

“Today, the President is proud to be welcoming her back to the White House and happy that she is back home on American soil,” Spicer said.

Trump was briefed on Hijazi’s case early in his term and directed his national security team to take steps to secure her release, he said.

The release was facilitated through meetings between Defense Secretary James Mattis and Egyptian President al-Sissi.

“As far as the release of the American citizen, she was found innocent in the Egyptian courts, and appropriately she is returned home,” Mattis told reporters Friday in Tel Aviv. “We were happy to hear she was found innocent.”

Hijaz and her husband landed in Washington on Thursday at 10 p.m. ET and she met Friday with President Trump.

There have been a plethora of Americans who had been detained overseas that Obama just did not seem to worry about, and that President Trump, with a little effort, has brought home. It was it was not a priority at all.

Even before he was running for office, Donald Trump gave financial support to Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, the soldier held in a Mexican jail for 214 days.

He helped Sgt. Tahmooressi when Obama wouldn’t even pick up the phone and call Mexico!

His lengthy prison stay became a farce and a failure under the Obama administration, culminating in a September Congressional hearing that was “highly critical of Obama Administration’s efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go.”

Insanity!
