  • Three men driving white van travelling at 50mph mowed down up to 20 people then jumped out of the van and 'randomly stabbed' people 
  • Attackers stabbed people with 12-inch hunting knives at busy pubs and bars in nearby Borough Market 
  • One horrified woman said she saw three people with what appeared to be their throats cut at London Bridge  
  • Police shot dead the three terrorists – one of whom was wearing an Arsenal shirt – within matter of minutes  
  • Terror attack is just 12 days after the Manchester attack

Three Jihadi terrorists have been shot dead by armed police after murdering seven people and injuring 48 others in a van and knife attack in central London last night.

The number of dead stands at seven, with 48 others injured.

Police said the three men were wearing fake bomb vests.

A white van hit pedestrians on London Bridge at about 22:00 BST on Saturday, then three men got out and stabbed people at random in nearby Borough Market.

Terrorists reportedly used 12-inch hunting knifes.

One of the victims is a police officer who was stabbed after assisting those injured. His injuries are not life-threatening.

The terrorists were shot by armed police 8 minutes after the attack began.

Witness said she saw three people with their throats cut.

Most political parties have halted their national general election campaigning in light of the attack. However, UKIP leader Paul Nuttall confirmed his party would carry on because this is "precisely what extremists would want us to do".

Prime minster Theresa May has chaired a meeting of the government's Cobra emergency committee.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick praised the "extraordinary bravery" of her officers, on and off duty, who risked their lives by rushing to confront the attackers.

The three terrorists mowed pedestrians down on London Bridge before moving to borough market wherein they stabbed numerous people.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the capital remained the "safest global city" and would not be cowed by terrorism.

Neil Coyle, the Labour candidate for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, praised the "amazing" response of Londoners.
