{UAH} President Museveni gets gift and a letter from stranger in USA

"Your kindness serves as an example to people all over the world"
June 9, 2017

President Yoweri Museveni woke up this morning to surprise mail in his
box from a stranger in the United States of America thanking him and
Ugandans for their gesture towards refugees.

Mrs. Adrienne Douglas said in her short letter to the President that
she believes that his actions toward the refugees that he has allowed
into Uganda are to be admired and his kindness serves as an example to
people all over the world.

She enclosed a Postal Money Order cheque worth US$100 and said the
money is towards support to the people of Uganda.

"This is noble. Every effort to support refugees is welcome. Accepting
refugees is part of our solidarity. I want to thank Mrs. Adrienne
Douglas for supporting this cause," he said.

In January this year, during a meeting between President Museveni and
the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, at the sidelines of the
28th Africa Union Summit in Addis Ababa, President Yoweri Museveni
called for a solidarity conference on refugees. The Conference to be
co-hosted by Uganda and the United Nations is now set for June 22,
2017 in Uganda and it is aimed at mobilizing resources for refugees in
Uganda.

Uganda is host to over 1.3million refugees in the region; 900,000
South Sudanese, 50,000 Burudians, 20,000 Rwandans, 44,000 Somalis,
280,000 Congolese from the DRC, 13,000 Eritreans and 11,000 Sudanese.

Uganda is currently ranked as the second-largest refugee-hosting
country in the world after Turkey.
