- Kwale governorship aspirant Chirau Mwakwere has opened up about his relationship with Raila Odinga

- He denies he is not friends with Raila and says it is just their past political differences

- Mwakwere is in NASA which is led by Raila

Former Kenyan ambassador to Tanzania and Kwale county gubernatorial aspirant Chirau Mwakwere has opened up about his alleged frosty relationship with NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to NTV on Monday, July 10, Mwakwere disputed claims that he does not see eye to eye with Raila since their time in the grand coalition government.

He said people who make such claims do not understand politics. He also denied claims that it is the frosty relationship that saw him ditch Raila's ODM party for Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Democratic Movement.

"Our relationship is not bad at all. In fact people don't understand politics. Take any politicians and down the memory lane you will find where they disagree. It is a question of a situation that is under consideration at that moment in time," Mwakwere said.

Mwakwere was apparently referring to the incident where he blasted Raila Odinga when he was prime minister and complained of being sidelined by then President Mwai Kibaki.

Mwakwere famously told off Raila for complaining about a bit latrine and half a carpet in his functions.

The two are now in NASA as they seek to unseat his former boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
