{UAH} INTERNATIONAL MANDELA DAY

Apartheid laws required black people to have a pass book and they were forbidden to travel freely to any other area of the country without it. In 1960 in the town of Sharpville, 7000 black residents protested the racist passbook laws. The fascist Apartheid police shot in the crowds at almost point blank and killed over ahundred protesters. When Mandela got news of the Sharpville massacre, he tore and burnt his Apartheid passbook and would never use one again ever (See attached photo).

On this International Nelson Mandela Day, the theme is Take Action Against Poverty.
