{UAH} Lands minister Betty Amongi Fires Back at Katikiro “We have Enough Lawyers”

Lands minister Betty Amongi has rejected the advice and fears of the Katikkiro.

The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga  advised the Central government to pass subsidiary legislation under the land laws to enable land owners get justice.

Katikkiro notes that if this is not done many Ugandans will lose their land and cause tension between government and its people.

Mayiga also commended the land probe commission led by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire for the good work done so far in unearthing fraud in land transactions and exposing corrupt government officials.

He thus appealed to government to fully fund the commission to enable it complete its work.

The katikkiro was addressing the Buganda Kingdom Lukiiko during which the new financial year's budget was passed.

But minister Amongi has asserted thus "We have so many lawyers in Government, in cabinet, in the ministry of Justice and constitutional affairs, the Attorney Generals chambers etc, by the time we decided to use the constitutional amendment process we had put many heads together, so Am afraid that Government can not take the advice of the Katikkiro"
