{UAH} The danger to our society today is that everyone wants to sit in an AC office and administer

The young people should be taught, at early stage so that they can master the rules of survival under modern capitalism. Suppose the world is a circle, devided into 2 equal halves, in the first half you have skills,it could be skills by training or talent. The second half of the circle is capital. Two activities occur in this half; trade and production. The first half lays foundation for the second one. We can use skills to save and accumulate capital which empowers us to join the second half. A medical doctor or engineer will save earnings the same way a musician or an athlete would do hence accumulating enough capital to go into trade or production. The key factor in the second half is the word PROFIT. Trade and production are geared towards profit making. The opposite of profit is LOSS. Whereas in the first half we used earnings to save and accumulate capital, the second half is about profit accumulation. Accumulated profit creates a surplus which can be invested in other ventures. Climbing the ladder therefore starts with skills. We must choose our skills carefully. some skills have high demand others don't. The danger to our society today is that everyone wants to sit in an AC office and administer. We are not doing much to learn or impart practical skills which involve physical work. Practical work like woodwork and metal work are perceived as low grade. As a consequence uganda imports furniture in millions of dollars per annum. Simple skills like masonry, plumbing, stone work, art and design are ignored. 70% of the courses offered at university emphasise Administration. unemployment today is largely a consequence of skills mismatch.People are largely skilled in what is not applicable. A visit to any motor vehicle repair workshop in uganda today would prove my point. Lets help our children to manage the future.
