[UAH] “God’s chosen people” have sunk Uganda into a failed state status
Museveni and his Tutsi relatives believe they are intelligent, good looking, superior and born leaders. In 1986, guerrilla fighters led by Tutsi mercenaries captured the seat of power in Uganda. Museveni was sworn in as president and boasted he would eradicate poverty off the surface of Uganda. Uganda would be industrialized within fifteen years and would stop exporting raw materials like his predecessors did. Uganda would be metamorphosed and turned into a middle income country and society in a short time.
A year after inauguration, Museveni turned Uganda into a guinea pig on virtually anything. He launched a shock therapy structural adjustment program others were resisting or reversing. Everyone with a pet project came to Uganda to test it. Museveni welcomed them provided they didn't bother him with elections and mess with his focus on building security instruments.
He then removed Bantu presidents in Rwanda, Burundi and Zaire. He dismissed experienced Ugandans on account of being Obote men and women and rejected return of highly educated and experienced exiled Ugandans except a few mostly Tutsi because he was training his own team of NRM cadres through hurriedly introduced night classes at Makerere University where some graduated without stepping into a lecture hall while others can't remember who taught them or supervised their teaching practical.
Museveni decided to develop Uganda as though it was a city state by focusing on Kampala and service sector largely capital intensive and foreign owned. He believed that controlling inflation and setting prices right economic and social miracles would occur automatically and benefits would trickle down to all sectors and regions. Those who advised him otherwise were branded empty tins and saboteurs who were inciting the public to undermine peace and security.
Now Uganda has been classified as a failed state which it has been for quite some time. Please join us this Saturday on Radio Munansi English program at 11:00 am New York time to discuss what it means to be a failed state. Visit www.radiomunansi.com.
