African History Conference:We are pleased to announce a one-day African History Conference to be held at the UNC-Wilmington on October 12, 2013. The theme for this conference is "Beyond the Boundaries: Toyin Falola and African Historiography," intended to not only honor the contributions of Prof. Falola to African History and African Diaspora studies, but also to engage and place his scholarship within the broader context of African historiography.
Theme: "Beyond the Boundaries: Toyin Falola and African Historiography"
Venue: University of North Carolina Wilmington

We are excited about this conference because not only are we seeking papers that speak directly to Prof. Falola's scholarship, but we are also interested in papers that explore forgotten/ignored histories, emerging ideas, and the state of scholarship in the fields of African history and studies and African Diaspora studies. The possibilities for this engagement are practically endless, but here are some of the broad areas to consider:
1. African Nationalism
2. Cultural/Economic Transformations
3. Women/Gender
4. Religion/Arts/Healing
5. Tradition/Modernity s
6. Globalization
7. African Diaspora(s)
8. Politics/Violence/War/Peace
9. African Migrations and Movements
10. Sexualities
11. Femininities and Masculinities
12. Oral Histories
13. Research Frontiers
