Addis Abeba, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The African Union (AU) has suspended Egypt from all activities following President Mohamed Morsi's removal by the Army, revealed the Pan-African organization. According to Wanafrica.net website, the decision was made after a meeting of the pan-African bloc's Peace and Security Council.
"As mandated by the relevant AU instruments, the African Union Peace and Security Council decides to suspend the participation of Egypt in AU activities until the restoration of constitutional order," Admore Kambudzi, Secretary of the Peace and Security Council of AU, said after a meeting on Friday. The decision came here at the convening of the 384th meeting of the AU-PSC at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which focused on the situation in Egypt.
Speaking to reporters after the decision, AU Commission chief Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said Egypt would be suspended "until there is an election, which would obviously be the expression of the will of Egyptian people." Dlamini-Zuma also reiterated the AU support to "the Egyptian people for a better life."
