{UAH} Could Obote have stopped his second fall?
Folks;
I'm not familiar with the source of this personal account of the fall of President Obote in 1985; I don't know whether Henry Lubega is the narrator, or he interviewed an eye-witness who was an insider in Obote's government, and is now recalling the events that led to the coup.
But the narrator, if believable, has some juicy front-seat experience that shows Obote as clueless, deliberately slow in decision making, and deeply conflicted about the two major cliques that had formed and was growing in his inner cicle of trusted aides.
The source brings America into the drama, and intimates that US likely hastened Obote's fall to retaliate at his refusal to allow US to establish a marine presence in Lake Victoria.
Missing in this narrative is one of the names that have been accused here of involvement in the coup: Olara Otunnu. I wonder why!
