Uganda national abducted and molested by four men

A 31-year-old woman from Uganda was allegedly abducted, molested and later dumped by four youths in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, on late Friday night. One of the accused, Prakhar, met the victim at a party in Crystal Palace hotel in Gurgaon on Friday night and offered to drop her at her home. The victim initially refused but on finding no taxi around, agreed to be dropped. 

Later, three of his friends joined in the car. "On their way, they molested her and when she resisted, they allegedly slapped her repeatedly. She started screaming, which scared the accused and they dumped her near Mahipalpur flyover," said an official.They also threatened her of the dire consequences if she reported the matter to the police. The woman showed courage and even tried to drag one of the men out of the car. "A passerby made a call to the police control room and informed the police about the incident. 

The local police immediately reached to the spot and the victim was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where she is recuperating," he said. The four accused — Prakhar Gupta, 22, Amandeep, 22, Swapnal Rana, 21, and Daman, 24 — were arrested on Saturday. They have been booked under Sections 365 (kidnapping), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and common intention (34) of the Indian Penal Code at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station. 

"The accused were in hiding but the police managed to trace Prakhar and the other three were later arrested from their residence in Mayur Vihar," said an official. Two of the accused are hotel management students in Bangalore, one of them is a B.Tech graduate and another was going to appear for mass communication exam. The police said that the victim came to India three months ago for a medical treatment and was staying in a rented accommodation in Shakarpur.
