Tremors shake several parts of Uganda

The tremors were felt in Kampala, Masaka, Jinja ,Masindi,Mbale among other areas in Uganda.
According to information from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first earthquake, which is reported to have started about 51 kilometres west of Kigorobya in Hoima measured 5.7 on the Richter scale while the second measured 5.4 and the epicentre was 57 kilometres west of Kigorombya.
USGS is the body responsible for monitoring, reporting, and researching earthquakes and earthquake hazards. The first tremor struck at 10:21pm and a second one, which was slightly stronger than the first hit at 1: 22am and rumbled for about five seconds.
"I jumped out of my bed and went to the sitting room as the house ceiling shook terribly," Mr Juma Kasada ,a journalist based in Mbale said.
Ms Lydia Nakyeyune , a resident of Muyenga ,a Kampala suburb says after the being shocked by the tremor, she failed to sleep until morning.
However, no destruction has been reported yet.
This is the second tremor to hit the country in a space of three days .The Tuesday earthquake measured 5.2 with a depth of 20.5 kilometers was more felt along the Albertine grabben and several districts in the Rwenzori region. The region has a long history of earthquakes.
Experts at the Department of Geological Survey and Mines in Entebbe are expected to issue a statement on the latest tremors later in the day.
The most devastating earthquake in recent times occurred in 1994. The quake that measured 6.2 on the Richter Scale caused massive landslides and the destruction of homes and property.
