{UAH} World Youth Day : Pope Francis the conquering hero!
The Pope's very excellent image as a father to all and his special wits as a very
charismatic orator and very sharp pragmatic theologian are contributing to making
Rio's World Youth Day a more than an international event! Everyone there feels attached
to something serious and important, and all nations are quaked by the events in Rio.
All is indeed centred on Pope Francis who has again surfaced as the admiration of all
young and old all over the globe! The Holy Pontiff has shown in Rio that he's te real number one
leader in the world and that his message can strike and win in all corners of the entire globe!
No wonder why at this hour Rio is counting five to eight million visitors who have specially come in
for these World Youth Day events articulated by the presence of a very great Pope who knows what
he's talking about!
Speaking to 800,000 youths at the end of the service for the Stations of the Cross at the Copacabana Beach, the Pope
stated that he understood and entertained moral support for the youths who no longer have any confidence
in the corrupt political institutions, and for those who lose faith due to bad priests who don't follow the teaching of the gospel.
With these words the Pope was indeed putting a final full stop to his array of concern for the apparently
abandoned youth who in turn take to despair and possible crime! His special concern on this matter had earlier
in the day prompted him to meet some young detainees to whom he showed particular concern when he carefully
listened to them in a social welfare centre where the meet took place. And thios Pope is very genuine in his action
regarding such type of people since he is reported to have a fortnightly telephone conversation with those other
young prisoners he already knew in a Buenos Aires prison when he was still Archbishop there.
Early in the morning the Pope had participated in the catechetical activities during which he heard confession
from some fifteen youths. Each one of these, chosen by lots, was to stay in the confessional for a maximum of 2 minutes.
The Pope followed his schedule as planned. He recited the midday Angelus prayer before an estimated 100,000 people
squeezed up in the vast Archbishop's compound and neighbouring streets! On the day the Church commemorates the
memory of Saints Joachim and Anne, the real parents of Mary, he admonished the crowds of the importance of dialogue
in the family, as being the only careful means of ensuring inter-generation communication. Amid deafening cheers, the Pope
He then descended for lunch with a number of youths who were involved in the preparations of the World Youth Day events.
As the week comes to a triumphal close two great events are still in store. One, the all night vigil for prayers starting today
Saturday evening and assembling close to two million youths, and, two, the closing Mass Sunday morning that is expected to assemble three million people. The two events will run at the Copacabana Beach. These weekend events originally programmed
to take place at Guaratiba, some forty kilometres from downtown Rio but due to the bad weather that has wetted the entire
locality and attracted in many crocodiles, the vast space, whose very huge dimensions equate with those of the entire Namugongo
Catholic Shrine, was to be abandoned at the last minute. So the millions will again flock Copacabana where security organs will have a very hard time in controling the movement of people from this evening up to Sunday afternoon. And things will again be
complicated by comings and goings of the massive presence of more than 6,000 international journalists and pressmen.
All reporting in for Pope Francis's first World Youth Day successful schedule of final events.
