Subject: {UAH} Besigye is booed at a function in Rushere and some NRM enthusiasts are all celebrating
Besigye is booed at a function in Rushere and some NRM enthusiasts are all celebrating that the good doctor is steadily losing popularity?? Really?? Can the Rushere crowd be used as a measure of Besigye's popularity in Ankole?
Though i think M7 deserved to be booed at Mengo, generally speaking...........this pedestrian culture of booing our leaders should be discouraged. Tolerance of alternative views is important in nation building.Besigye can never win or get good reception at any function in Rushere. It would be so naive for anyone to use his reception in Rushere as a yardstick for measuring his popularity. Similarly, it is so naive to judge the popularity of M7 in Buganda using the reception he got at Mengo.
In 1980, Museveni was booed in Rushere and called names, including that he was not Ugandan, when he was contesting as UPM leader. He got only 3% of the votes there, and even UPC defeated him, with Sam Kuteesa of DP geting over 80% of the votes. But since 1996, Museveni has been getting 99% of votes in Rushere.
