{UAH} Alepo Wants To Kick Mulindwa Out Of Uganda Football -
In this third and last piece of my series, 'Let's abuse, insult Mulindwa but…' I find the situation very amazing that Education and Sports Minister rtd. Major Jesca Alupo was allegedly set to disband FUFA on Friday July 19th on grounds that have since remained a mystery to us!
The much anticipated Friday pronouncement by the Minister was however thrown into a drum of cold water Thursday afternoon when an ardent soccer fan and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda, Patrick Amama Mbabazi sighted the obvious likely dangers and direct damages to the Ugandan football.
Mbabazi called us to his offices and directed Alupo (in absence) to reverse her decision as they continue to study the prevailing situation. "I am interested in seeing football prospering…I don't want to hear the past, let's start a new chapter" the Honourable Prime Minister told a meeting in his office.
In attendance was the Sports Commissioner Omara Apita, Justice Ministry officials, NCS General Secretary Jasper Aligaweesa and FUFA officials led by the Vice President in charge of administration Eng. Moses Magogo. Others were FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson and our Legal Committee Secretary Counsel Alex luganda.
Its alleged that State Minister Charles Bakabulindi tried to advise Minister Alupo to drop her idea to disband FUFA but in vain until the Prime Minister intervened.
As FUFA we are aware of the click of people that are trying to misadvise the minister to take such a damaging decision.
The group allegedly receives technical advice from one Commissioner in the ministry who seem to carry long time grievances over a relegated club from the National League. One would expect such a commissioner to possess vast knowledge in the way national leagues are run.
There are always demotions and promotions based on performances but when his club was demoted, he reportedly chose to join the disgruntled group to wage a war against FUFA!
We were only later surprised when we were sidelined from the crucial consultative process of formulating new sports regulations.
Here the Premier directed that the process be slowed down in order to have our inputs accommodated. But why exactly were the concerned parties rushing to implement these regulations without the input of the country's biggest sport-football?
All these spaces create a lot of suspicions that need to be addressed before final decisions are taken. It was obvious that FIFA was going to suspend Uganda if the Minister's decision to disband us had been implemented. Individual office bearers in FUFA were to walk out of the Mengo headquarters immediately and the game thereafter suffers.
