{UAH} 200000 with Pope Francis for prayers for Syria
An estimated 200,000 people covered most of St Peter's Square
to give full support to Pope Francis's appeal for prayer and fasting
in order to see war averted in Syria. The almost five hour long ceremony
gathered an unexpected crowd whose numbers began flocking the square early
in the afternon ( the occasion started at 7 pm)! People from all corners of the world
including representatives of many religions were present. The Pope had also
invited the Chief Khadi of Damascus to be present, but unforeseeable circumstances
spoilt for him and he missed.
This was an open effort that the Pope wants to present in order to show his appeal for
peace in the whole Middle-East region. He called for prayer, reconciliation, and of course
peace! He insisted on dialogue as being the only way to promote peace in the region.
Many prayers were said, including reciting a rosary.
The Pope has showed his resolution to move on peace rails!
And he had already written to Russia's leaders and all G20 members assembled in Moscow
to talk peace and find an immediate solution, other than war, for Syria.
Pope Francis's initiative was televised globally to an estimated 2 billion people.
Many now hope the world will find some relief in the Pope's action for which they wish the
Syrian authorities to strongly take note of.
Meanwhile Presidents Obama and Hollande of France are convinced that the Syrian authorities
terrorized their innocent population with the forbidden chemical weapons. The two leaders claim
to have enough evidence from many reliable circles including many of their people living in Syria.
And they are therefore still resolved to strike Syria in order to put an end to such a malpractice.
The two leaders say that if such an action isn't immediately dealt with by punishing its authors, other
occasions anywhere else in the world, particularly in the Middle East, will profit from such an impunity
to regularly opt for the inhuman habit.
It appears there is resolution and determination on the part of the US and French authorities to go forward
with their war action that may finally bring down the Syrian Govt which, in spite of Russia's support, doesn't
have any enough capacity to resist the Franco-US firepower! ACtion is clearly going on both in France and
in the USA to push forward the air and missile strike on Syria. It's only Assad who can save his situation by
profiting from the Pope's wise counsel to the leaders of the region, including especially Assad himself.
Failure to do so will automatically mean his yearning for an immediate exit!
G.H.K.
