{UAH} The full Aronda effect, isn't it? Me smells hard times for NGOs

The Link below shows the full Aronda effect, isn't it? Me smells hard times for NGOs. Which makes me want to ask the question, should anyone who wants to associate with another or other persons (natural or not) have to register? Do NGOs register because of the structure of donor funding or out of the sheer right to associate? We may want to start asking these hard questions in light of these sort of notices?

The funny thing is that the Ministry Link does not work....This Aronda fellow must be sleeping on the knob!!

Well, The UN Special Rapporteur says no and "underlines that the right to freedom of association equally
protects associations that are not registered": http://www.ohchr.org/.../Session20/A-HRC-20-27_en.pdf.
Citizens must seek to peacefully associate without necessarily registering. After all it is a right. I get the sense that registration is more about getting donor ,money which is tied to legal status but real change in society is not brought bout by such approaches rather spontaneous societal actions. The more these sort of threats rear their ugly heads, the more i am convinced that we do not need registration to associate and organise.

The whole purpose is take a firm grip on the operations of Civil Society in the country with a deliberate intention of withdrawing licenses for those that will cross a "red line" or simply for flouting any "law" as per their interpretation. After all, it seams every article or section of our laws of late have a thousand legal interpretations. Not good at all.

To register with an autocratic govt like our is like tying your balls to a string and handing the other end of the string to the government.registration erodes the independence of CSOs. That aside, in my opinion, the first and most important challenge for any CSO is to find and sustain the courage to come out openly and seriously fight against injustice, deprivation or maladministration, regardless of consequences that registration or non-registration presents. Once an activist starts thinking about his or her life and is motivated by donor funds or fear rather than commitment and courage, they might as well give up and let others do the job. In some cases, set-up of CSOs is for personal gain for the founders whether materiel financial or by way of reputation. It is not suggested that any of these attributes are unimportant or irrelevant. If they exist or come, they are also welcome but they should be mere consequences of commitment, courage and activism and not the primary objectives.
