{UAH} Tr : Mozambique may need some prayers!

This southern African country really needs Providence at hand!
The recent reconversion to guerila activity by former rebel group Renamo, hitherto
a peaceful Parliamentery opposition front, now a self-acclaimed
militant revolutionary group ready to act militarily in order to see
that wealth in the country is equitably shared by all, is something that
now creates concern in many circles! Unless the positive is allowed to triumph
there is worry of another bloody episode that may bring chaos to the stage!
I hope the leaders will come out and give assurance to the led so that the worst is
averted! Let's hope so!
Otherwise this is the country which had taken off very well and its economy is growing
very steadily ( 7.5 % last year and 8% next year, according to UN estimates)
Mozambique was now attracting back its ancient Portugues colonizers who are flocking
to the country in their thousands! Maputo City is expanding at an unprecedented rocket speed and
one just sees skyscrapers mushrooming in every corner of the ancient city which has now even leisurely
opted to constructing those Manhattan-like upper scale residences that are rented at 6000 US$ per month
and there are tycoons from all over the globe to rent them. Streams of industrialists, businessmen,
financial experts, bankers, etc land in every day and start competing for the endless contracts in
every aspect of the economy!
The country has very much to offer: tourism, trade, mining, agriculture, construction, investment in
all sectors of the nation's life, etc...
The most important area of attraction is now in the natural gas extraction. This is what will make every
Mozambican have a feel at a real Western life, if at all the assets are goodly utilized for  every citizen's
national interest ( will Mozambique succeed where Cabinda, which was anticipated to levy on its citizens
a special standard of living equal to that of Britain was led to fail ?) If Mozambique fails, it will be a big betrayal
to her revolution! The ball is now in the camp of her leaders. The country has now been rated with an estimated
150 trillion cubic feet of gas ( compare that to rich Libya's total 55 trillion cubic feet of the product!), and has petrol
and practically all types of rich marketable minerals!
What shocks is the impression shared a number of natives who foresee more poverty in all these riches that may
not pull up the already much impoverished natives! A which may give Renamo justification for a cause! Terrible!

G.H.K.
