Save The Children: Emergency Alert

Reports of the damage done by Super Typhoon Haiyan are horrifying, Supporter.

  • As many as 10,000 are feared dead in the Philippines alone, with bodies in the streets in some areas.
  • More than half-a-million are displaced.
  • Almost 10 million people, including children, have been affected and 4.3 million need immediate assistance.
Rafael's Story

"When we went out of the house, my father was hit by a collapsed wall. There was blood everywhere. I tried to wake him up, but he wasn't moving anymore.

"The water got even higher, and I wanted to carry my father with the tide, but I thought we would both die. I was scared, and I was crying."

Rafael, his mother and two siblings are now living in a van outside the evacuation center as they cannot stand the stench inside.

"We are getting sick," the 10 year old says. "It is very cold and we don't have any dry clothes."
Imagine what this is like for a child. Some are hurt, others are already suffering from diarrhea and fever. Hundreds of thousands are huddled in shelters, frightened, perhaps separated from family, torn away from all that is familiar – all that is safe.

We appeal to you to help us provide what these young victims of Haiyan so urgently need: water, hygiene and sanitation, food, medicines, shelter – and emotional support.

Save the Children has focused on the unique needs of children in emergencies for almost 100 years. With your help, we promise we will not let these children down.

Right now, every donation, every dollar is vitally important. The situation is desperate for millions of children and families. PLEASE HELP NOW.
