{UAH} Is it Gwanda or is it Rwanda?

Can some one educate me.
When you here a Tustsi or Hutu speaking they sound like they say "BanyaGwanda" instead of "BanyaRwanda" but the g sounds soft.
Or is it becoz of the French accent?
