Details How Gen Kasirye Gwanga 'Betrayed' Sejusa and Colleagues, Spilling Beans to Sevo on How they were Planning his Downfall before he was Forgiven and Bailed out of the House Saga

By Team Investigator

On the evening of May 10th 2013, police and other security organs heavily deployed at Entebbe Airport and along the Highway. This was ahead of the then planned return of the renegade Gen. David Sejusa aka Tinyefuuza the following day.

Later to be foiled, Tinye's Saturday return was understandably a threat to government and the same caused the 'arrest' of three Generals namely Kasirye Gwanga, Waswa Balikalege and Elly Tumwine, who were put before the Commander in Chief (CiC) for questioning. And this is the information that has since been hidden under the carpet.

At Entebbe premised State House, Kasirye Gwanga was questioned first and his boss reportedly found him more useful than others, for he spilled the beans. Asked what the name of his problem was, Kasirye reportedly told the President that he had long been abandoned and that he did not like the then rumoured idea of dragging his son into politics.

He further told him that dragging the son, (Read Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba aka MK) would be dangerous as all the Generals, serving and retired were against the idea. Museveni reportedly listened and seemed to agree with Kasirye. He then asked him who was behind the rebellion amongst the Generals.

Spilling 'em all

Gwanga reportedly cleared his voice, sat up in his chair and told the President that most of the Generals and historical cadres were against him. "But to believe me well, I suggest that Your Excellency send a scrutiny team to screen the lads that are deployed in Entebbe." Sevo straight away sent a scrutiny team.

To his shock, the President was briefed that the exercise had tested positive to his curiosity. Sixty two plain clothed lads we found 'guilty' of a rebellious character and had already been arrested. Kasirye then proceeded to reveal to the President how, Sejusa agents had planned to exchange fire at Entebbe which would turn into a serious battle.

At that moment, other conduits from Kampala barracks and elsewhere in the veterans fraternity would start the same in Kampala as others proceed to reinforce their colleagues in Entebbe, a standoff that was firstly to see Entebbe State House seized. The Gen. also tipped his boss of how Wasswa Balikalege was in charge of mobilising the veterans with full knowledge of their representative at the CEC, Gen. Muhwezi.

This explains the recent tour of veterans by the CiC. At this moment, the Principle reportedly reached for his satellite gadget and made a few calls to UK. And on Saturday May 11th 2013, Sejusa's return, to inner circles, had been foiled. The President was reportedly very pleased with Gwanga that he promised him heaven on earth.

But as he waits for the reward, his house woes in Makindye were instantly solved and his farm in Mukono, which was going to dogs courtesy of a Shs300m fate was sorted forthwith.

Enter Balikalege, Tumwine

The President was so pleased and expected to get more from Generals Balikalege and Tumwine but it dawned on him. Whereas they separately opened up on several of their plights, none of them offered a mention of the coup plans against him. In the end, he reportedly told them of their plans and offered to give them time to 'reform' as he thought of how to help them out of their troubles.

To this date, they trust Gwanga as none but a traitor and indeed, their enemy. And Gwanga is known to have incensed Gen. Sejusa to the marrow that a mention of his name totally kills his day. In the meantime, Muhwezi at the time chose to 'flee' the country, fearing for the unknown that could befall him. But the big man chose to demobilize the veterans without him, leaving his guess work at play.
