Police Vacates Lukwago's Home
The latest from Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago's Wakaligga Road Home is that Uganda police officers who had camped there have packed their belongings and vacated the place.
This is after Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, Uganda Parliament's Speaker ordered police to leave the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago's home and allow him access to food.
According to his aide, one Ssali Kibedi, Erias Lukwago is expected to be escorted by police as he finally enters his City Hall office on Wednesday.
"We thank Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, the battle is not yet done but it is true, police has left Lord Mayor's premises." Said Kibedi.
On Tuesday, IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura was quizzed on police brutality the same time Kampala Minister Hon. Frank Tumwebaze was also busy answering tough questions from MPS on why he has continued to disobey a court ruling.
Mr. Tumwebaze explained what happened on the fateful Monday, a day 29 Councillors tried to remove Lukwago but most MPS could not by his defense.
Meanwhile, Lukwago's lawyers had also decided to go back to court so that their client is let free to do his City Hall duties. Gen. Kayihura is expected back in Parliament on Wednesday for more questioning.
