President Museveni meets S.Sudans Rebecca Garang over conflict

President Yoweri Museveni has met and held discussions with Rebecca
Nyandeng Garang De Mabior Presidential Adviser on Human Rights and
Gender to the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit and a
widow of the late SPLM leader Dr. John Garang De Mabior.

Ms. Garang called on the President at his country home in Rwakitura,
Kiruhura district and the two leaders discussed the security situation
in South Sudan especially regarding the latest events that have
resulted from the conflict in her country.

They also discussed issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
An estimated, 1000 people have been killed and another 201,000 people
have been internally displaced by the current crisis in South Sudan
since Dec 15 according to reports.

The conflict in South Sudan began Dec 15 when President Salva Kiir's
government claimed that soldiers loyal to former deputy President Riek
Machar, dismissed in July, launched an attempted coup.
