{UAH} Planning and Building Cities is my Passion

Daniel, I am currently developing several projects in Rwanda, in Kigali and also in Musanze/Ruhengeri. Mostly "urban projects" (not planning, fully designed projects down to the architectural, but with an urban scope and scale). Every time I fly to Kigali my plane stops in Entebbe.
The main project is the Gateway to the Kigali Business District. Two towers that will not need air conditioning: we will use night cooling, and natural shade with local climbers growing on the catwalks that go around the façade. The window frames will be made with responsibly harvested local wood, to avoid imports and create local know-how. We are aiming at substituting between 30 and 60% of cement in the structure with active volcano ashes, found locally. Flexibility is a main feature of the design, so that use can be adapted over time.
Another major project approaches the border of the wetlands of Kigali, combining a Wetlands Interpretation Center, a phytosanitation garden, and a retail-services area.
In Musanze we are working on a Masterplan for a productive landscape, integrating different aspects and scales of farming combined with tourism.
We are so busy we do not even think of updating the website (we do post news on Facebook).
Happy new year!
Carlos
