{UAH} Uganda in deep crisis

Under NRM government, Uganda today is described as vulnerable to internal and external shocks, meaning that anything can happen any time. Others describe it as a failed state that has lost direction and is diverting attention from domestic decay to external adventurism as Amin did.

It is no longer a success story in democracy and macroeconomics and poverty reduction and good governance which it never was to begin with.

Uganda is plagued by economic, social, environmental and human crisis including trafficking and sacrifice; endemic corruption, sectarianism, cronyism and excessive mismanagement of public institutions and inefficient allocation of human and non-human resources. NRM is externally influenced and directed. Divisions within the ruling party and the security forces are becoming visible through recent desertions and reassignment of senior military officers. Accumulation of sophisticated military weapons may not in the end save the regime if Ugandans in the security forces realize they are being used for the comfort of a few many of them foreigners.

Elections have lost meaning and an increasing number of voters are staying away to register discontent. Militarization of Uganda institution is increasing. Human rights and fundamental freedoms are violated in the name of law and order. Immiseration and state repression of Uganda masses have reached intolerable levels.

Mention of possible genocide or civil war is becoming louder at home and abroad. We can save the situation if only Ugandans and development partners abandon NRM government so it implodes peacefully. Prevention is always better than cure.
