A UPDF brigadier and former division commander stationed in Mbarara the late Patrick Kankiriho was poisoned by one Kellen Kayonga the sister of Salim Salh's wife, on the orders of Museveni after so called intelligence informed Museveni that Kankiriho had planned to carry out a military assault on Museveni' home at Rwakitura and kill the dictator and stage a coup together with another unnamed Soldier.Fearing the reaction of Kankiriho's military colleagues and tribesmen in case he arrested him, Museveni is said to have gone for the poisoning option.
