Andrew Mwenda asks Journalist of Daily Monitor Okuda to apologise to Kagame.


Below is Okuda's apology in full:

Apology to H.E Paul Kagame:

About a month ago, when Rwandan run away soldier Karegeya was murdered, I joined the mob on social media who at the heat of the moment rushed to condemn, name call and judge Mr Kagame, insinuating and largely declaring he had killed or master minded the murder of his former military ally.

I have since had more than one discussion with Andrew M. Mwenda and convincingly appreciated that as a practising journalist let alone responsible observer, I was reckless, and insensitive to name call Gen. Kagame without let alone, before investigations into the murder.

Andrew, whom I still hold in High regard, has since impressed upon me the need to step back from personal bias, probe and ascertain the bear minimum truth before making conclusions.

Much as I may not necessarily change my views on President PK, I treasure and respect the principle of innocence till proven otherwise, and above all, now appreciate better, the need to divorce emotion and bias from objective judgement of issues.

To that end, I sincerely register my heartfelt apologies to president PK and those on whose toes the harsh and prejudiced remarks stepped.
