SV: {UAH} Mao: West Selective On Human Rights

Njaaaaa, Gook,I give him "Semi-right", only!!

In this our county (you and I),blaming it on others is a shameful act. You know it.

I do not see any thorough account of the DP party's stand or contribution on the issue.

On the whole, it is propaganda retorik, inget mer med't!

On the West's selectiveness on Human Right issues in Africa, I must say I am amazed.
Because, the world react to issues based on how they are presented
(wrapped with  the urgency and priority).

And the QUESTION IS: whose responsibility is that? Not the politician(s)?

So, instead of blaming the West, Mao and the political  establishment should blame
themselves for failing and call it failing.

I notice he does not articulate his own part.

Human right abuses goes on all the time. Can we address them all at once?

Just like criminality in general, we can not let a criminal go free as long as all other
criminals are not charged also?

Mao: West Selective On Human Rights

The President Democratic Party (DP), Norbert Mao has blamed the U.S for being selective in addressing human rights violations in Uganda.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Kampala on Tuesday, Mao said the western world is condemning the discrimination of gays as if it is the only human right violated in the country.

Mao said the U.S and UN should stop hoodwinking Ugandans by portraying gays as the only people whose rights are abused but other sections of society including opposition politicians.

"In a country where politicians are not given right to practice their freedom, Lord mayor always battered, with a president who has over stayed in power and more other forms of violation, the western world has for long kept quiet, now why raise anger over homosexuality?" Mao charged.

Mao added the west should come out and comment on all human rights violations wholesomely without giving preferential treatment to any minority group.

"The west should understand, respect and appreciate our national stand against homosexuality, not forgetting that we are a sovereign state," he cautioned.

"If there is anyone that Ugandans need to appreciate for the new law, it should be the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who stood our country's stand no matter the pressure from the west," Mao revealed.

"Museveni signed the law as a result of the increased pressure from Ugandans at large but not because it was attributed to his willingness as a political trader; Museveni traded the homosexuality bill with the 5th term in power which was evidenced in Kyankwanzi early this month where he met the NRM caucus," he added.

Mao warned also the public against the use of mob justice in a way of enforcing the law but rather allow the law to be enforced by the appropriate authorities.

This comes after the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay have spoken out against the anti-homosexuality law saying it violates basic human rights and endangers lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the country.

The US Secretary of State John Kerry also condemned the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, saying it is a tragic for all who care about the cause of human rights.

"The signing threatens a dangerous slide backward in Uganda's commitment to protecting the human rights of its people and a serious threat to the LGBT community in Uganda," he added.

The Bill spells out tough penalties for homosexuality and aggravated homosexuality.
