{UAH} ANYONE REMEMBER THIS? IT HAPPEND ON THE KIGUMBA ROAD

A coffin on its way to Northern Uganda from Kampala surprised escorts seated around it in the back of a pickup truck. A radio announcement was earlier made for the family in the village to prep for his body and a grave was soon dug on the ready for his burial.

As the vehicle hit the gravels at full speed close to Kigumba, the escorts were surprised with no calculable reaction and response time when suddenly the coffin's content burst out seated, perplex and confused by the sudden world it found itself in.

The man had earlier in that morning been pronounced dead in his house and hurriedly bundled inside a makeshift coffin when on its way north the bakkie occupants thought it would be wise to open the casket a little to allow free air flow inside less the hot weather increased decomposition and rendered the whole place  stinking and most of all for the fear of reaching the destination with a stinking corpse that nobody would want to come close to.

Little was known about the man's death. Events that followed the sudden burst out of the casket also led to a second sudden burst of the bakkie occupants spontaneously jumping off the fast moving truck leading to several injuries including broken legs, arms and backs from fearing the dead man could catch and take them along to the spirit world. Soon the driver, too, seeing on the rear-view mirror reacted likewise by pulling a sudden break and leaping out only to be followed by rest of the remaining front seat occupants without knowing what set off the bakkie escorts leaping off a speeding truck.

With many groaning in pain and able ones stopping to gaze from a distance, the helpless with broken lips who couldnt hit the Savannah grass were the ones who realized that the man had truly risen and for real. Approaching him closely they realized that the now risen man seemed more saner than them and as normal as before death and most of all, uninjured like them. On confirmation that indeed a miraculous resurrection had occurred they soon regrouped to go on with the journey with a stop at Kiryandongo Hospital to treat the injured.

On reaching home, villagers who had immediately started wailing, pulling out their hairs, and throwing themselves on the ground were soon to be angrily stopped from crying for nothing as the lead escort told them a miracle had occurred and the man had risen.

Unbelievable at first and receiving immediate harsh rebuke from elders for disrespecting the dead, the risen man who had by now taken a front seat in the pickup was led out and showed to the would-have-been mourners. Then another unbelievable moment when they looked at him with awe while others feared coming close to a probable zombie.

Some fake mourners who had by now over demonstrated their closeness to the risen man by throwing and injuring themselves on the hard ground were left very very disappointed as their games turned to be worth nothing.

The zillion "Autopsies"

The immediate autopsy by the learned resulted into several causes, not of the man's death but of his rise from the dead. They included a rejection by the ancestors as well as a blessing by the ancestors for having led a good life yet others autopsied that the spirits believed the man had unfinished work for the clan so they restored his life.

later it was all celebrations.

The Correct "Autopsy"

Air. Apparently the man could have only passed out or had a minor but long shock when he was coffined. His luck came when the escorts decided to open the casket to allow free flow of air inside to avoid decomposition. All thru his body systems were indeed functioning and had the family first taken him to hospital before immediately closing him in the casket, doctors could have discovered a pulse and jolted him to life.

It is believed the high speeding vehicle could have resulted in increased air pressure inside the coffin which resulted into reviving the man's life.

I stopped to reflect on this event and suddenly found myself wondering how many living Africans could have been burred unknowingly alive by their families presuming one is kaput.

And, you better believe me.
