THE ROLE OF PARLIAMENT IN THE FIGHT(SUPPORT) AGAINST THE SPRAY OF DDT
BE ATTENTIVE:
In 2004, it is on record that the Speaker of Parliament at that time deliberately denied Conservative Party a constitutional opportunity of moving a motion to stop government from from implementing the DDT residual application in peoples' houses.
The speaker afterwards allowed CP to move the motion on the floor of Parliament but later denied chance to justify it . The motion was seconded by MPs JOHN ODIT, SEBULIBA MUTUMBA, MICHEL MABIKKE, AMON MUZOORA, A OGOLA AND AMURIAT OBOL PATRICK.

Whereas under Article 245 of the Constitution enjoins Parliament to provide for measure intended to among other, protect and preserve the Environment from abuse, pollution and degradation;
And Whereas under objective (xxvii) of the National Objective and Directive principles of state Policy it is stated among others that:
The state shall take all possible measures to prevent or minimize damage and destruction to land, air, and water resource resulting from pollution and other courses, and
The state including local Government, shall promote the rational use of natural resource so as to safeguard and protect bio-diversity in Uganda
