Araali Isidoro Kaakyomya
Dear Sir,
This is to remind you that the Work Plan the Runyoro-Rutooro Language Board adopted in November 2013 and which should began being implemented immediately is lagging behind.
Specifically:
A) MSS for Primary School Books for use in the teaching of Runyoro-Rutooro in Primary schools have not been submitted to the WRITING COMMTTEE and Board for approval.
B) Runyoro-Rutooro books which have been selected for strting to use in the Prrimary schools and which are being printed by the selected Publishers have not yet been printed and published. Hence, teachers in the primary schools have nothing to use to teach the language.
C) The WRITING COMMITTEE has not invited and received MSS for Progressive Readers, translations and novels in Runyoro-Rutooro
D) The revised, most up-to-date Runyoro-Rutooro Orthography is still in the making. The Board has to sit and look at the proposed rievisions and approve them before consenting to printing the new version.
E) The promotion of Runyoro-Rutooro throgh Radio/TV Talk Shows has not ben done nor even planned.
F) Promotional visits to schools by the Language Board have not bee embarked on.
G) The NCDC has not officially announced that it will include the examination of Runyoro-Rutooro in PLE and A Level Certificate Examinations. Failure to do this has greately discouraged Primary School teachers to teach the language. They ask, "why teach a subject which is not examinable"?.
F) Regular Language Board meetngs have not taken place. Members say they cannot use their personal funds for transport, food and accommodation for Board activities.
