UNAA Executive Visits Boston | | This visit is part of the UNAA Executive's Community Outreach Initiative (COI); the UNAA President will also continue to sensitive the communities about the recently announced Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program (ELSP) and the Professional Interest Networks (PINs); two signature programs aimed at moving UNAA beyond a convention organization. The UNAA President when asked why Boston is the first trip the Executive is making outside of the Convention Hosting City; he replied that "The Ugandan Community in Boston is the largest of any in North America and it is truly the heartbeat of the Ugandan Diaspora. Their entrepreneurship and energy is truly remarkable, I look forward to a great weekend" During the Visit, the UNAA Executive will also meet and visit with various Ugandan owned and operated businesses, enterprises as well as the business community aimed at growing the spirit of entrepreneurship among the Ugandan Diaspora community. The UNAA Executive Committee is in the process of developing a new initiatIVe and sponsorship package that is more affordable to the small Ugandan businesses around North America | Hyatt Regency La Jolla Reservations top 80% -- Hotel Room Block Added UNAA San Diego Convention Preparations reached a huge milestone this week with the Hyatt hotel reservations reaching 80% of the signed contract block. This is significant because UNAA has now officially met its contracted financial minimum room block meaning per the contract whether the remaining 20% are filled or not, the organization is not financially liable. The entire UNAA block and hotel is anticipated to sell out before the end of April 2014 - well ahead of schedule and more than a month ahead of the UNAA Dallas Convention. There were a few reports last week of people having problems with certain days not being available and certain types of rooms not being available. This was been resolved during last week's leadership visit with the hotel; an additional room block was added to cater for the increasing demand. If you continue to have problems or are in Uganda or you do not have a credit card, please contact the UNAA Secretariat; convention@unaa.org or secretary@unaa.org with the particular problems that you are having as well as the type of room that you would like and the dates. Reserving your Hotel Room is FREE, your card won't be charged until you check in. You can cancel 24 hours before check in with no charge. | | UNAA leadership Returns from Southern California This is the second trip by UNAA leaders to San Diego in the last three months. We indeed continue to be excited about the upcoming San Diego Convention.
