Kubuumi was described as someone who liked children

A man went berserk and beheaded a woman who had just accorded him hospitality at her home in Nninzi village, Kaliisizo town, Rakai district.

The suspect Jude Kubuumi, 30, is reported to have branched off to Joyce Naluyobyo Kayinga's home where the latter was weaving a mat in her compound.
Kubuumi asked for something to eat and Naluyobyo's grandchild, Julius Namuna shared with him some cassava.
And then all hell broke loose. In fact no one saw it coming. Kubuumi had a panga with him a tool that is used for menial work in rural areas such as this one.
Kubuumi sprung to his feet, stretched his arm all the way and he struck. The panga sliced into Nalubyongo's body like a kite in midair, setting her to shriek like a wounded animal.
Her horrified grandchild fled the compound making an alarm for help as Kubuumi repeatedly struck his victim, blood splattering over the place the screams died down.

Horrified residents could not comprehend what had just happened

Kubuumi then fled but by this time terrified residents were rushing to the home to see what was happening. They gave chase and caught Kubuumi and proceeded to vent out their anger. He was only saved by police that that was alerted by residents.
Horrified neighbours were seen clasping their heads in their hands, other capping their palms over their mouths in utter shock as they tried to make sense of what lay before them.
It was revealed that Kubuumi, a former primary teacher had become mentally unstable sometime back. Though he had moments when he would get out control residents largely described him as an affable person who liked children.
Kaliisizo police boss Regina Nansamba said the suspect would be taken to Butabika for treatment under police protection.

Some residents though said cases of youth using marijuana were on the rise and attributed the grisly incident to this, saying the suspect also used the substance.
