{UAH} Why Great Britain escaped the impact of French and subsequent Revolutions

Why Great Britain escaped the impact of French and subsequent Revolutions

The Glorious Revolution of 1688 had weakened the power of the monarchy and strengthened that of parliament.

In 1832 Britain passed the Reform Bill that opened the door to participation of industrial middle class in the political process.

In the 1860s the liberal parliamentary system contributed to social and political reforms that made the country stable and prosperous.

The benefits of economic growth trickled to and improved the welfare of the working class whose real wages increased by 25 percent between 1850 and 1870.

The Reform Bill of 1867 further democratized Great Britain which included reducing the voting requirement based on property or income.

Other reforms included opening civil service positions to competitive examinations instead of patronage; the religious requirement for entry to university education at Cambridge and Oxford was dropped; the secret ballot for voting was introduced. The Education Act of 1870 opened elementary education to all children. Abuses of many rights were eliminated. Reforms also enabled people to compete on the basis of talent. Where does Uganda under NRM stand on all of these reforms?
