{UAH} NRM campaign in Luweero : a major failure!

The President himself is there and will sleep there for two nights in a bid

to drum up more support for the NRM candidate who has been entirely

rejected by a determined and strongly resolved electorate who are madly

throwing their entire political support to opposition DP candidate, Brenda Nnabukenya,

dubbed the liberator by Luweronians who have massively trurned up to her rallies!

Money, police brutality as that deployed at Brenda's final rally which drew over 10,000 people

at Luweero township, etc haven't broken the will of the people now clamouring for change and openly

expressing their discontent towards Kaguta himself! and the man had it rough at Wobulenzi trading centre

where, having advised the electorate to ignore and disqualify DP's Brenda Nnabukenya, he was booed by

the angry crowds!

    Turnouts for NRM rallies have been very light, most people having chosen to keep indoors! They openly say

that there is nothig new NRM is going to offer them except empty tail-less promises as it has been the case

for the last 28 years! What annoyed the big shots within the NRM ranks was the failed campaign at Bombo

Municipality where there was almost nobody except schoolchildren and students from neighbouring colleges!

They have now taken to impotent fumingations accusing DP of having been a dormant party, etc.. But the Luweronians

aren't all that dull to simply pocket  in their mind any shallow nonsense of the kind! They outreason the NRMs when they

attack them on corruption, inefficiency, nepotism, etc... They challenge them to show what they have achieved for them!

      The last opposition rallies have drawn unseen numbers in the gatherings and have brought in new big wigs including

former VP Gilbert Bukenya, MP Gerald Karuhanga, and a spectrum of eminent politicians from all over the country! People were more interested in looking at these prominent figures and listening to their messages which drew applauses from the assembled masses. It has indeed been political rehabilitation for the people used to listening to that obsolete NRM wolokoso which has failed to deliver in Luweero! Here now they discovered the super political luminaries who further included within their ranks persons like Mao, Ssemogerere, Ssebaana, Besigye, Lukwago,Nnambooze, Nsereko, Mbidde, Nsubuga, Ssebuliba Mutumba, Ssebaggala Latif, and all those other figures cowardly NRM fears to look at! The other day these political celebrities were at Ndejje with Brenda. All roads leading to the venue of the rally were awash with countless thousands of cheering people! It was at that time that NRM was addressing their 800-strong crowd at Bombo where last Saturday Brenda and team spoke to 20,000 people!!

       In spite of trying to use the police for selfish ends and despite the reported plans to rig the poll, the opposition together with the people and some disgruntled NRMs are determined to see a successful clean election. The people of Luweero have been very heroic in refusing money given in bribes. In many localities any cadres found trying to distribute any money to the people have been beaten up by the angry residents! The security forces may even appear overwhelmed by the people's determination to fight any malpractices....! An angry M7 has nothing to do except in one instance where a house was burnt down, and he is now asking police to force the opposition to build that house which is said to have belonged to an individual caught trying to dish out finances to potential voters....!

        This by-election is showing a number of things! NRM will henceforth stop taking it fopr granted that Luweero is their fief! The place wants to go back to its former days when it used to be one of the richest areas in trhe entire East Africa, and this was due to good planning and to people's incentive to work hard! That good old time is what the opposition is successfully bringing as good tidings to Luweero. The old NRM guards including Haji Nadduli and Gen Salim Saleh have apparently lost ground as they can't cope up with the brilliant outlook the opposition is pumping in.

And will this be a beginning for a new trend in the whole countgry? Yes, indeed! The by-election is going to humiliate NRM in what they had always considered as a stronghold. And with Luweero will systematically go much of the rest of the country! And NRM will witness that political error they have regularly committed, that of leaving M7 the only visible shot present everywhere on their behalf! The opposition is going to be more weighty as it will always move with profiles touching to a presidential personality : Mao, Ssemo, Ssebaana, Besigye, Otunnu, Lukwago, etc... and firebrands of the Nambooze, Nsereko, Karuhanga types whose impact on crowds beats that of any NRM minister, for example! The opposition just needs cohesion and unity in action touching the grassroots, and it will be a force to reckon with, come 2016 which will see NRM's road to a near demise!
