Uganda accused of training Somali fighters
A total of 3,600 Somali personnel have received training in Uganda, learning new skills to take back to Somalia upon joining the country's Armed Forces, in the efforts to stabilize towns and villages and restore security for the Somali people.
Uganda's Chief of Defense Force General Edward Katumba Wamala also confirmed that the country's troops currently deployed in South Sudan will begin their partial withdrawal from Juba after the forces of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are deployed on the ground. Uganda has been accused on several occasions of training Al-shabaab fighters under the guise of empowering the Somali National Armed Forces. But Kampala, whose role in Somalia is critical in the restoration of security to the war ravaged country, remains resolute in its control of key installations there.
