SAMSON MANDE ON NOBLE MAYOMBO:
''There is no doubt Mayombo was one of Ugandas best lawyers, a very intelligent young man with high leadership potential when I recruited him in NRA in 1985 and recommend that he could serve the force best as a political commissar and a lecturer of siasa-democracy , public relations and related subjects!
My personal investigations reveal that he was looked at by the owners of Uganda as a threat to their throne, disoriented by giving him false and accelerated promotions, put him tightly close to the Uganda power house (ADC TO PRESIDENT) and later deployed to CMI to preside over operations that would make him so unpopular (torture and murder)!!
Hundreds of Ugandans lost their lives and dear bread earners in operations under him in safe houses and other hidden places! He was so brainwashed and indoctrinate to believe he was even more powerful than God! The last time I was arrested in Uganda was by Noble Mayombo in 2001 when he arrested me for supporting Col Dr Waren Kiiza Kizza-Besigye Wrn bid for presidency !! The arrest was illegal and the court martial released me three days after the arrest!
During the arrest I noted that he was not the smart lawyer, the democrat I recruited and the noble young Man I recruited in the struggle for democracy!! I asked him about a number of illegalities he was about to commit and human rights of mine he was about to violet and he said "I know all that Col but since you involved yourself with Col Kizza Besigye, I have instructions from above , to arrest you , period"!
What shocked me is when I told him that he and those powers above are not more powerful than God and God is watching him, he said "hmhm by the way some of us are socialists who don't believe in God"!
I closed my case and prayed for God's intervention! The other close memory I have on Noble Mayombo is when he arrested a relative of mine, a civilian boy of 19 years and tortured him to death on Kitante road in his very office! He personally beat him with a club in the boy's head http://allafrica.com/stories/200502220498.html! He was forcing the boy to sign a false confession that he was a PRA rebel!!
I hope you have not forgotten how he mishandled and humiliated his friend and brother Maj Okwir Rabwon for joining the Col Kizza Besigye task force for his presidential bid!! Knowing what he was before he got disoriented and what he became and did after disorientation that put too much power into his head and hands and the reason behind it made me ask God to forgive him for he knew what he was doing? What about those citizens whose dear ones perished under Mayombo's supervision or in his hands? Africa and Uganda in particular survived, slave trade, colonialism and neo-colonialism but is yet to survive; fascism, dictatorship and above all: INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY!
The day all African intellectuals of Mayombo caliber will learn to tell the rulers, leaders and their masters the truth and give them constructive advice rather than boot-licking and sycophanting or being submissive to dictatorship, Africa shall be the economic giant and super power it was created to be!''
