A doting dad desperate to find work hanged himself because he could not stand the stress and pressure of relentless job interviews.

Stuart Holley, 23, was found hanged at home by his grandmother after going through a series of interviews which made him "very anxious".

He left a suicide note speaking of his love for his son Logan and his distress that he had not been able to provide a better life for him.

An inquest heard how the proud dad, from Nailsworth in Gloucester, was making strenuous efforts to find work and was attending interviews every fortnight.

On one occasion at an interview he had a panic attack and was sent home.

The coroner read parts of a letter written to her by Stuart's grandparents, Malcolm and Ann, in which they said he was 'very anxious' about job interviews.

"He was under tremendous pressure based on those interviews and the requirement for his attendance," said the letter.

"So often he was disappointed, so often not even notified of the result. It was sad to see him so disheartened. We would try to pick him up but the distress was there for all to see."

The coroner said she had read a detailed note left by Stuart. "It refers to his desire to provide more for his son Logan," she said.

"It expresses his deep love of Logan and how he wanted to make a better life for him and was disappointed he could not do that."

Gloucestershire senior coroner Katy Skerrett recorded a verdict of suicide on Stuart following his death on May 3.

She said: "He was clearly a devoted father who wanted to provide for his son," said the coroner.

"He was going through the process of job interviews on a regular basis and it was clearly causing him enormous stress.

"It appears the circumstances got on top of him and he did not feel able to deal with it. That led to him taking his life."
