I intended to follow up with the notes you made on this Police Officer, and I start by apologizing for I am running late in responses, but because this is an issue concerning all of us as members of society but as parents, I need a clarification from you on why it was good news for this Police Officer to dance with these kids. And Edward because we all have children growing up in this society I am going to post this thread wide so that we can all debate it as widely as possible for me to get an education on Police Officers and the way we raise our children.  And just as a back ground  I have worked with societal organizations in this country for past twenty years including families children new immigrants and minority groups/organizations,  and there is nothing that frustrates me as two things {a} Parents training their children that a Police Officer is friend and {b} It makes me cringe when parents train their children with never ever talk to a stranger. Many of the children we have found victims in society, when you follow their history, they have a back ground of thinking that strangers are their enemies and Police officers are their friends , when actually it should have been backwards. If life was to my belief, children should have been trained to talk to everybody but a Police Officer. Kansas City Police Officer Loses Dance-Off to Kids

Subject: {UAH} White Police Officer loses dance off with black kids

 

Folks;

 

If you have been following the news, a predominantly black city in Missouri is boiling right now, following the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager by a white officer last Saturday.

 

In fact, President Obama has just made a comment about the mounting tensions there.

 

But amid this gloom and concerns about brutality by white police officers on black teenagers, here is a soothing consolation that may serve to give us hope that not all is that bad, after all. 

 

A Kansas city police officer chanced upon a group of young black kids in a neighborhood park, and took them to a challenge: he lost the competition - after all it was dancing - but all won one for peace, at least for one day.
