{UAH} NDLEA nabs man with cocaine worth N200m at Kano Airport
THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport command, has arrested a 43-year-old man, Aneke Afamuefuna lnnocent, who hails from Enugu State, with 19.5 kilogrammes substance suspected to be cocaine, valued at N200 million.
The NDLEA said the drug suspect was nabbed during a routine inward screening of passengers of an Ethiopian airline flight no.931 on Friday.
Speaking to newsmen in his office on Wednesday, the Commander of the agency at the airport, Mr Ambrose Umoru, said the drug suspect neatly concealed a high grade pure cocaine in several HP Laser Jet printing toners, which were sealed in a factory to avoid detection.
He further stated that the suspect had boarded an Ethiopian airline flight in Caracas/Venezuela via Sao Poalo, Brazil enroute Adis Ababa/Ethiopia via Kano, Nigeria, where he had arranged with his drug gang in Venezuela for onward delivery to one of the Nigerian representative at the Kano airport for subsequent distribution before he was nabbed.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect's Nigerian collaborator was actually at the airport to receive him on arrival, but took to his heels on sighting that the suspect had been nabbed.
However, the suspect is still under investigation and would be charged to the Federal High Court.
While speaking with newsmen, Aneke said " my friend abroad pushed me to this, as I did not know he packaged cocaine for me to deliver to a person in Kano.
"I did not know the content of what I was billed to deliver; he has pushed me into trouble."
He added that "I have three children, and because of my plight, I did this for $5,000. It is quite unbelievable that a friend, who said he was trying to help me, could put me into trouble."
