Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi Tuesday admitted that former Lands minister James Orengo revoked his title as the war of words between Jubilee and Cord politicians continues.
But Mr Kambi described the revelations by Mr Orengo as political survival tactics to divert attention from questions raised over allocation of 500,000 acres in Lamu.
Mr Kambi, who was named among top Jubilee officials whose title deeds were revoked by Mr Orengo, however acknowledged that he was allocated 10 acres which he paid for in 1998.
He said he had acquired the land for a company he is associated with.
"I applied for the 10 acres on Jogoo Road, Nairobi from Kenya Railways and was given after paying Sh22 million. ''Mr Orengo tried to revoke the title but was stopped by the court and the matter is still pending," Mr Kambi said during a press conference at his NSSF building offices Tuesday.
He accused Mr Orengo of playing politics with a serious issue when Kenyans were waiting for answers on how thousands of acres of public land was irregularly given out to individuals.
"My conscience is clear and I have nothing to hide about any transaction. I doubt Mr Orengo can say the same. Let him address the question marks surrounding his tenure as Lands minister and the illegal allocations," he said.
"No amount of name-calling or finger-pointing will work in this issue and I refuse to let Mr Orengo be casual about it," Mr Kambi added.
During a media briefing on Monday, Mr Orengo denied accusations by Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu that he abetted land grabbing when he was the minister.
