KAMPALA –
A police and military operation is underway at outgoing Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi's home in Kololo. According to family sources, the operation is being commanded by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Brig Leo Kyanda.

The security officials arrived at the home about 3.30 PM, and are backed by three police pick-up trucks.
Mr Mbabazi was reportedly not at home at the time the security officials arrived.

Ms Nina Mbabazi, the ex-Prime Minister's daughter who was at the home told Daily Monitor that Brig Kyanda had come to withdraw the UPDF guards assigned to Mr Mbabazi.

"They said they had come to withdraw the soldiers," she said.
"They have withdrawn all the soldiers and left," Ms Mbabazi told Daily Monitor by telephone.

The security officials are said to have then asked the soldiers who had been escorting Mr Mbabazi at his office at Crested Towers to withdraw back to the home and then packed their belongings and left.

According to UPDF Spokesperson Col Paddy Ankunda, he confirmed the incident and further stated that the soldiers have been withdrawn.
