{UAH} wbk@We need worry about life after M7

The obsession to rid Uganda of Museveni negates the need to plan for the post-Museveni era regardless of when it comes. The longevity of his reign is a pointer to how well calculated all his steps have been and I consider him a wise man to have dominated politics with the so many wise persons who seem unable to dislodge the man. It cannot be luck, it is down to meticulous planning and sheer political acumen.

With the man 70 years of age, he will innevitably exit in whatever manner, it happens. The biggest concern ought not to be when he leaves but how to hold Uganda together after he is gone. I remember an article by Daniel Kalinaki about chaos being the way NRM works, and I think the centre holding the chaos is Museveni. Who will fill the power vacuum in the event of an exit, today, tomorrow or after 10 years?

With happenings in Iraq, Libya, Somalia and elsewhere after the exit of the strongmen, we need worry about life after M7. This discussion in my opinion has only been publicly talked of by the likes of Mugisha Muntu, and Muwanga Kivumbi, the rest enthuse about exiting of Museveni with the plan in the aftermath not much of a concern. 30 years of anything is too long and the adjustments needed thereafter require patience, tolerance, reconciliation and a lot of statesmanship qualities that should consistently be exhibited by those intending to lead Uganda.

These are the concerns I internally debate daily in my mind
