This is the exact problem I have been raising about Acholis, they have absolutely no true friend and this is why they have failed far too long. They are made of strange genes indeed. The Prof. Gwokto is referring  to as a laughing stock by students and who is a member of UAH is Dr. Otim Ochan at California Tech, a UAH member and a friend of his as a matter fact.

With friends like these who really needs enemies out there !!!!!!!!!!!     Ge'ez

Georgie,

I sure will. Watuwa was indeed destined for politics until all things fell apart in the motherland. I have always likened his kind of humour to another dude here, Simon Okurut. Call it intelligent humour but each is bound to puzzle and crack your ribs. Even worse was what he told me about his reception after grad. Dude returned with among other things, a laptop.

Yes, a laptop but these were the days when only a handful of Ugandans had them What he didnt know was that this laptop was going to be his only sanity when he returned to office. Story he told me was that there was a junior officer in BoU who occupied his office while he was away here. When he returned to resume work dude refused to vacate his office. For weeks this went on until he realized he was all alone fighting a Muhima MUK undergrad who wasnt blinking an eye even as he continued to report for work but his office was the cafeteria where he sat and spent whole days but yet got paid.

After second thought he remembered he could return to Canada and resume his Teaching Assistant job which he did and everything else took the current course.

Otherwise, his students love the baboon and have given him very high rating on a website where students rank their professors. I was very amazed. I must also say some profs here in UAH have been hit very badly by their students' comments on this website which can be very embarrassing. Let me know if anyone wants this web link. Type any prof's name and kaboom...! adjust your seat and prep to laugh flat on your belly at hilarious comments.

Gwokto,

Put Mr Watuwa in contact. he is a good mate of mine although we lost touch after Makerere. yes he is a very jolly character. I never knew he would end up as an academic- he never showed much interest in academics while at University. I always thought he would end up in politics. He surely has surprised me. he must have started using the name Richard when he migrated to Canadam because he never used it at University. Your organisation must be doing well, because you have a good board, which is well balanced in expertise as well as geography. Send me details of any future conferences you plan.

Cheers,
