{UAH} Hon Tumwebaze: Let us Clean Up The Country – Building & Public Health Laws

As one lands and enters the airport at Entebbe – there is virtually
nothing in form of attraction apart from lazy cricking conveyor
baggage belt. It is exactly the same experience as one enters the
airport - a very sad experience indeed.

Now compare that with Munyonyo Common Wealth Resort lounge or the main
entrance- I heard that Africans are artistic.

That is exactly where Uganda's agony starts.

Down the road from the airport, the United Nations has discovered a
free graveyard of all sorts of carcasses of aircrafts. At Least we can
sell the carcasses to Chinese scrap dealers to clean up our
environment.

Disallow poor investors in village uncultured beaches; Lido and the
rest at this very important section!

Then as one leaves the airport, to come to Uganda proper, Entebbe town
is filled with very old buildings, some new ones occupied yet
unfinished and almost crazily placed, there is no form or geometry at
all, suggesting that there is something wrong with plot ownership.

I've just written a paper exactly about the above subject that can be
found at this page and one wonders if at the Land Information System
we are using now in Uganda is as exact as it should be

http://www.siup.ac.ug/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Working-Paper-cadastralcartographic-maps-final.doc

Then the entire Entebbe Road to Kampala is a jamboree of chaotic
buildings, vendors unconcerned about their environment, the big men's
silly so-called beaches doting the Lake shores, one parked car here
and another there. A drunken building facing this way. another leaning
dangerously that way.

A relief come at Kisubi - White Brothers Seminar and it also ends
there - good Lord!

On page 54 of the November 17 2014 New Visions Mr. Pius Bigirimana PS
Gender, Labour and Social Development comes out with a full page on a
section in the law " compliance with occupational safety and health
act No. 9, 2006 at all workplaces.

Uganda has all tribes of Laws and the above law, one stands out and
can help us get out of the mess – Public Health Act can save us the
headace and agony.

For a start- we have Town Clerks, RDC, CAO let these and their juniors
implement the above sections of the law with some religious faith
starting with Entebbe – Kampala corridor and Jinja Road up to Jinja
Municipality and see what happens for Gods sake. Buildings that do not
meet the required standards must go from this corridor - what are
Ugandas building standards if I may ask?

In two weeks there will be a difference - then we can wait for a year.
Dear Minister help your brethren out of this chaos and entranal shame
- this the year 2014!
