As the series on the Acholi violence continues, many times we worry about the physical effect that these goons did to our people. In doing so we many times fail to realize the long term damage these actions did to our people. Yes we know Acholi walked in Luwero and West Nile, with their dicks out of pants just looking for anything in a skirt. But what was the psychological effect to the 8 year old that was raped by Acholi soldiers? What was the psychological effect to the mother that was forced to sit down and watch how her 9 year old loose virginity at gun point for an Acholi goon is honny? These are some of the dangers Uganda will face for we have failed to ask ourselves these very serious questions and to find very serious answers. Helen Liebling and Rebeca Kiziri-Mayengo decided to follow those women, but to find out, how the violence of Acholi and Langi soldiers effected women psychologically. Thus a psychological effect of gender  based violence following armed conflict in Luwero district, Uganda. Fellow Ugandans as you read all these reports, it is important you realize the difference between us as Ugandans and the rest of the word. We have spent years in these forums but refuse to raise the carpet on the Acholi violence, yet the international community has spent millions of dollars to investigate it. And why? Because it is important for society to understand the violence of Acholi or they will get a gun and start to run a road block without your knowledge and you will end up with a bullet hole if not dead. And to you as a woman laughing for you are dating or you are married to an Acholi, and he is a very loving man, yes time is ticking, and one of those days you will be like a very nice girl I know in this city,  that was beaten so terribly bad by her Acholi man, that doctors had to take a time to hunt down for her liver for it ended up sandwiched between the rest of her God damn body parts.  Your time is also coming up.

 

It is time we all as Ugandans discuss the Acholi violence but candidly.
