{UAH} OPPOSITION LEADERS MUST EMBRACE.......!

From the online radio station with Prof Amii.........

With the tacit admission by Prof Amii Otunnu that he is a federalist first and foremost, the leaders of the opposition must now coalesce around federalism. It's the only system that will break the NRM's grip on power. Better still, it will bring to an end their oppressive unitary system of rule.

I would like to see and hear more from Prof Amii. He should start by convincing his brother the leader of UPC party to embrace federalism, Mao the DP anchorman to change course and FDC Muntu to try something different. If push comes to shove, the prof should see to it that, the north lead the way towards the federal dream, because Buganda has clearly stalled on the agenda. This inertia is exacerbated by the fact that, the leading advocate on federalism from the region is not their stereotypical flag bearer, she is a woman politician, which does not bode well with the Kiganda bravura. But Betty Kamya is arguably, the most accomplished politician from Buganda and therefore, the professor needs to reach out to Betty Kamya the lead proponents of federalism who, has since nationalised and given the the federal argument credence. In the prof's own words, federalism is no longer a Buganda issue but a Ugandan issue and rightly so. It's therefore incumbent on all Ugandans who want to embrace federalism as means to change for the better; the panacea that Uganda needs, to do so without feeling any sense of betrayal or quilt. Even the UPC party should now reconsider their position in regard to the matter. The fact that it was they who vehemently opposed the federal arrangement, does not prevent a change of heart, because we are now looking at a different era, a post NRM and development and empowerment for all era!

The greater northern state can only become a reality if Prof Amii Otunnu got out of his professorial gown, and got his hands dirty. The federal juggernaut in the north needs clean and strong hands to push it along and with the support of other opposition leaders, it will gain traction. This in return, will awaken the rest of the country from slumber.

The federal agenda is no longer a dream. It's the only solution that should bring lasting peace and usher in opportunities for development of the rest of the country, with the power necessary to do so. The current state of affairs means that it's only Buganda that is gaining from development. It is sacking away potentials from the rest of country. This is wrong. It's not good for Buganda nor is it good for the rest of the country. So it's only good that Buganda wake up from their tulo and revive the call for federalism. The unitary path can only mean that the grip on Buganda by others, will only get tighter, as they protect their vast wealth and interest invested in the Buganda region.
