Kajiado Central aspirant Memusi Kanchori ditches JAP for ODM - Politics
Kajiado Central parliamentary aspirant Memusi Kanchori has joined ODM after he was defeated in the Jubilee Alliance Party nominations.
Mr Kanchori was beaten to second place by Mr Patrick Tutui in a joint nomination exercise carried out by the Jubilee coalition parties at 52 polling stations across the vast constituency.
Mr Tutui received 10,502 votes while Mr Kanchori garnered 10,100 votes.
Voters have picked to be the Jubilee Alliance Party candidate for the Kajiado Central parliamentary seat.
Mr Kanchori was received by ODM Secretary-General Ababu Namwamba at Orange House in Nairobi on Monday.
He is expected to battle it out with other aspirants for the ODM ticket.
The aspirant declared his intention to leave Jubilee because he received more votes than Mr Tutui from the populous Matapato clan.
The clan is the largest voting bloc in the constituency. Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, whose appointment to the Cabinet and resignation left the seat vacant, belongs to the clan.
