{UAH} A very sad day in the history of Uganda....
A sad day (yesterday 26th Jan); very sad day in the history of Uganda (and Rwanda).
On this day 29 years ago, Makerere university was surrounded by a gang of bandits many of them 10 year old children - fully armed - some with AK47s that were taller than them...As it happened, NRA had chased away their friends, the gormless Okellos and were ready to 'capture' Kampala on 25th January but being the fateful day on which Idi Amin, aided by Isreali commanders in 1971 overthrew the peoples government, they opted to wait....
On this day and more, darker skinned Ugandans (presumed northerners) were hounded and tired 'briefcase' aka 'kandoya', mbu those 'oyo Mucholi'...the rest is history. State House Entebbe was to be broken into and entered Museveni. Since then, what elections are you talking about............?
Four years later, some of the Rwandese refugees turned 'bandits' in Luwero now - rulers in Uganda - turned liberators of Rwanda......invaded that country in October 1990. With havoc in northern Rwanda before the bringing down of an aircraft carrying Rwandese and Burundi presidents near Kigali (on their way from peace jokes in Arusha - poor Okellos with Olara...in Nairobi), hundreds of thousands were killed, plenty more were to die in the bushes of Congo turned millions. Uganda had qualified for top slot as base for redrawing of the map of East Africa. Backed by its strategic position for Angl-Americans and with its national bank in the pockets of the agents armed to the teeth........why would a whole nation not go into permanent sleep?
Otherwise, with the massacres even in Teso, why would some people pretend to have 'outsourced' their common sense for basic thoughts? Still I beg God award beliefs in better. It is is possible.
Ochieno
